GLORY OF THE SUN

As I open my eyes
I see the dazzling cerulean sky
Filling my existence with the divine light.

I turn back
Only to watch you look at me
With affection, like I was a child
While I let the sun invigorate me
With its radiating lights.

I turn back
Only to watch you
Relish the moment that I enjoy
Basking in the sunshine to my sheer delight
As I let the sun takes away all my sorrows and sad times.

I turn back
Only to watch you
Standing there to catch me
When I fall flat
When the night rise
And winter subsides, the glory of the sun.

Sing to me Romeo!

The pensive mode of my mind
Wishes to hear a sweet lullaby
Oh darling! Romeo
Sing to me, sing to me
Under the moonlit sky.

I wait for you on the patio
To hear the symphony you play
Accompanied with lyrical grace
Oh darling! Romeo
Sing to me, sing to me
Under the moonlit sky.

Let me drown in your soft melodies
That will make me believe
In the life beyond tragedies
And sorrowful days.

The days where life ceases to exist
For all that we do is race
Leaving behind our souls those crave
For that gleaming smile
And love that could make our day.

Oh darling! Romeo,
Sing to me, sing to me
For I still want to feel the sweet pain
The pain of falling in love
But only this time, not to fail, ever.

Let me lie under

Let me lie under
Lay under your sheen
Follow you, as you saunter
Through the meshed screen
Let me lie under
Lay under your sparkle
As you illuminate the night sky
With your charm and glow
Let me lie under
Lay under you
As you shelter me with an invisible blanket
And warm me up for the night,
So lonely……..

Two lonely friends

Oh! The king of the night sky
You seem lonely,
Aloof without your companions
The swarm of clouds.
Just the way you drift away in a gentle sway
My lonely heart too,
Tonight swiftly flows
To the tune of a loner’s heart
Sitting alone wondering
That we both are alone, but together in this hour
So while you hover in the sky
Accompany me to write some lines
For you are my friend tonight
And we shall not leave each other’s side
In this lonely plight.

Relentless craving

The gleaming sky
Bejeweled with the twilight highlights
Watch over us.
As we steal those glimpses
Underneath which we hide
Our cravings to be by each other’s side.

We lay down on the juicy grass
Watching the sun pass
Waiting for the jewels of night to show
Unravel their magic on a night that flows
With the wind of love
Whispering in our ears
The music yet to become
A song of us.

As the moon shows up
And the night sky sets in
The two  of us become alert
To the sigh of each other’s heart.
The fingers entwine
Filling the spaces designed to be thine
Just when the hearts start to hum
A symphony that beckons the lover, closer.

Her face under the moonlight
Reminds him of a beauty of a meadow faraway
Filled with flowers of the most beautiful kind.
His glimmering eyes under the moonlit sky
Tells her the stories from the world beyond the oceans, sublime.

Light up the sky

The dreary sky blankets the life
On a night that is everything but illuminating the skies
The stars seemed to have absorbed in the thickness of dark
And the moon hangs all by itself, just half
My heart pounds fast
Reminiscing the days when happiness was my hearts charm.
Now the days have gone and only dullness surrounds
Engulfed in dark clouds

I look out for the lanterns
That will lit up my heart and the dark skies
Make the sky illume like a silver ocean on the starry night,
Accompany the jewel and enliven the night life.

The Nightmare that I am living

I wake up with a smile
And it strikes me hard
In my face
Gets me hurt and mentally displaced
It’s a nightmare that I am living these days
Looks me in the eye
Every night and day
Hits me hard
Reminding me its not your way
You live life
Their way
There is no peace that exists
The sleep that shrinks
In between day of torment
And night of torture

There is no rest
No breathing space
Plain humiliation to your humble existence.

On your wedding day

In the midst of all the flurry
while we prepare your extravagant departure
Defining and abiding by the mores of a typical Indian wedding affair
often a heart of the father weeps,
For not being able to see his little princess who walked around the home
In her pink frock with panache and pride carrying in her toy basket, now everyday of the week
watching her grow tall n pretty for a stranger to come by and take her away through ceremonies all glitzy
It often makes him sigh under his breath as he muses over the past
Every time she hopped in his arms.

A mother who watched you laugh
Who watched you cry
Who became the secret-miss-know-it-all of your life
Who knew your secrets no matter how hard you tried to conceal
She still vows to never reveal and love you despite your mischief.
Her heart often gasps for a breath that would envelope
all that she had of you and your memories
the smile, the tears, the excitement and your fears.
She wishes to store it all in her cradle of your memories.

Often the heart of your younger brother speaks of exhilaration on the prospect of your wedding ceremony
Oblivious to the fact that he would have to give away his secret fairy
Who granted all his wishes without making any demands.

A heart of a younger sister seeks for a friend throughout the winter
To cover her with warmth when the sun goes down
and loneliness descends all around,
You did it all these years
Rendering her a pillow made of hopes of a new dawn.

But now her heart often swells up with emotions
The thoughts of letting you go
Only to walk up in an empty bedroom
To sleep alone in the dark
Without having you around to have the last chat before the dawn.

Now you would build up a new home,
A home that will be your new family and more
But we wish for you all the love in the world
For you would always be your father’s little princess,
Your mother’s pretty girl, your brother’s secret fairy
And your sister’s star in the entire galaxy.

The waiting

As the pen awaits
the blank page stares
back at me
to spill out the bottled up
to extract what is waiting up
for me to realize
the sacredness
the feeling to sense the sanctity
of the practice that sets off healing
of the mind and soul,
Purgation is still concealing
as my pen awaits
and the blank page stares
back at me.

Silhouettes of the past

Dim moonlight
Spreads over the objects of night
Giving rise to silhouettes in dark
Giving rise to memories in the backyard
Of our conscious
The silhouettes dance to the tunes of wind
Memories play a mystical flute,
 Setting me adrift
Letting me in to the doors of yesteryears
Where we stood together watching the wind blow
The silhouettes of the trees reminds me of larks
As they sing a symphony to embellish the moments
Till they last
My soul set afloat in the memories like a golden door
To the times that must pass
Letting them go shall be the next task
The golden gate must close
And these silhouettes must speak of stories that hurt less.

In the lap of nature

When I look back in time
The ticking clock reminds
Reminds me of the number of hours that have passed
Since I ever came closest to the clouds that house in the stars
And spill magic in disguise on earth so far.

With my dearest friends
And two of my beloved sisters
I undertook the journey
That would take me to a place, heavenly.

The trip surfaced after great delays
With lots of obstacles
That remained unmoved in our ways.
But never getting discouraged
We made our way.

Routing the path to the place
That will let us touch the vault of heaven.
Leaving behind the plains
Which are far from nature’s grace
We enter the place where God has bestowed
Mankind with its abundant love and treasure, innate.

We find ourselves standing in between the tall hills
Which are covered with cottony clouds
Imperfect in size and shape
Like something went wrong in their textile mill.

As they float like a feather
Touching the cap of the mountain
It makes me wonder
Am I the fairy that could swim across the heaven
Sitting on these cherubs like feathers?

The abounding tree on all our sides
Leave us mesmerized in the lushness
That god has endowed.
With singsongs of the birds and monkeys
The nature’s whole becomes one
As my friends  and I witness
The nature’s hub.

It is here,
Where our souls find much sought after peace
For we have arrived in the lap of heavenly dream.
Our hearts gloat for we have found the keys
To unlock the door to the land
Like a dream
Where nature speaks
And paradise it is.

Ode to the recent trip to Shimla and Kasauli.

A Dream

Sunrays permeates atop mounts
Sparkles, elves, water cascades swooshing down
You and I,
Heaven unfolds.

Unrequited love for you

When I was young and free
I caught myself in a spree
An indulgence that will never set my soul free

Laying underneath a beautiful tree
My heart filled with glee
For I had found my king of whom I was to become a queen

Every day I would lie under that tree
Trying to count the leaves
But I failed miserably

I never felt any guilty
For the number of leaves
Denoted the number of years
That I would love you for and would have loved for
And that would be some millions hanging through the sprigs

Years passed and the tree became stronger
While the little birdies hid in there to sleep
My spring became autumn and autumn changed to winter

While I laid and counted the leaves hanging from the sprigs
I could never make you see it
I could never make you believe it
I could never make you feel it

For in my dreams all these years
I became your queen
But you never became my king.

Your Pathetic Existence

You wake up at the time
While stars are still singing to the moon
So that you can complete your chores with your tools
And avoid the stinging of the devil in your home.

For that’s the urgency
For that’s the agenda
Incase it’s not fulfilled then you must hear the trumpet
The trumpet so loud and obnoxious playing in your ears
That it would slaughter your spirit deep within
Leaving you with an eccentric hole.

The hole that has been dug
By extracting the essence of your existence
And it now speaks of your pathetic existence
The visitor reminds you of your pathetic endurance.

He visits your bedroom
And more often visits your body for pleasure
Seeking solace after the day’s pressure
When you look at him, the cheap glint in those eyes
Rather than reminding you of your safety and love
It reminds you your pathetic existence
You are reminded of your pathetic endurance
You are reminded of the vows that you took together
Of collective and happy subsistence

For when you thought you were his muse
Instead you were his object to use, for his pleasure
A punching bag for his vent out
When you thought he’d whisper you love notes
To your surprise those were pungent words

When you thought he’d caress you for nothing
It was his anger and beating displacing the nothing
Which left you bleeding, which left you sore
To the core, which pores out every hope.

Each time when you were bathing in his wrath
And giving your best to be his punching bag
Each and every second of these moments
He reminded you of your pathetic existence.

Is there anybody there?

When I begin with my day
Making my way through the subway
I often wonder
And I often ponder
That all the hard work that I have to offer
Will it ever make any difference when I depart to my coffer
Is there anybody there, watching my ways?

When I etch my hands towards the sky
And smile to the guiding light
While I say my prayers and submit to the universe’s plan
I often wonder
I often ponder
And more often I put my faith in its entirety
To believe that yes! there is somebody there
Who is watching my ways
For he would get me to the bay
That will lead me to the heaven's door at the end of the day.

Prompt: 160, is there anybody there?

A blissful twilight

Springing over above are the chirping birds
Mesmerising me are the shades of twilight
Blue mixes with orange and the magic unreels
Cool, gentle wind toss back my hair
To whisper a sweet melody that is not yet revealed
I immerse myself in the music composed by the wind and the birdies chirping
And I miss the tune of John Mayer’s music
The melodic phrases that he sings to my plight
And says all we ever do is say is goodbye.

The mellowing sun peeks while settling behind the clouds
Forming their own pictures and stories
Creating mysteries and riddles for our reverie
My mind starts to speak to them
Questioning about the secrets, complexes and compounds of their tales
Lushness of green sprigs shelters the creatures of feathers under their shades
And beauty descends and beauty surrounds
What starts to intrigue me is what lies within, deep inside.

I try and sense, read and introspect
I feel nothing
Oh what bliss, all that I can take into account
Birdies queue up and bid me goodnight
And wind swirls me in magic abound
Emptying my mind it fills me with nothing
And when I think of it, it’s Lovely
The trees start to dance oh-so-mystic
Seems like there is a band that has choreographed it
Oh what beauty! I must insist
Oh what beauty! I must insist
Nature and nothingness
What bliss.
